Industrial and Practical Training for Students

About Industrial Practical Training Program  

Practical training is a mandatory course for KIVI students. This course has to be taken by the students in order to graduate and or be given their academic papers;  Majors that falls under this group are:

Goals of Practical Training
  • Exposure students to real-world problems and issues that perhaps are not found in textbooks.
  • Identify the strengths and weaknesses in current students through industry feedback and modify the curriculum according to the needs.
  • Strengthen the relation between industrial institutions and Kisoro International Vocational Institute.

Benefits of the industrial training program.


To The Students
1. Familiarize the students with practical  work in various disciplines.
2. Improve the performance of the students in theory classes by introducing them to the in practical work.
3. Help to know the strengths and weaknesses in the students, so they can improve their skills and overcome their limitations by taking appropriate measures.
4. Expose students to real work situations and equip them with the necessary skills so that they would be ready for the job when they graduate.

To The College
 1.     Modify the curriculum based on the feedback from industry, if necessary.
 2.     Better job placement opportunities for the graduating students from the Institute.
 3.     Muster the support from industry in the form of sponsorships and scholarships.

To The Industrial Institutions
1. Solidify the relationship between the industrial institutions and Kisoro International Vocational institute.
2. Promote the services of the Industrial institutions & KIVI.
3. Get the opportunity to hire the perceptive trained students after graduation or have the
4. Chance to sponsor them until they graduate.

While Kisoro International Vocational Institute accepts internships to students at different levels of their careers, many of its students gets deployed for mandatory internships to different industrial institutions.


Internship programme at KIVI
This programme runs throughout the year with a peak period from  November to late January. KIVI offers internship for a maximum period of up to three months. KIVI offers training to students at different levels of their careers as well as undergraduates at both National and International level.

The KIVI training Committee
The internship programme is coordinated by a training committee. All KIVI training Programmes are represented on this committee.

End of Internship/student competition
Students give a presentation on their selected topic. They present to a team of selected adjudicators.
Students write and submit a report to the training committee at the end of the internship.
